Pre-Presidential Election Cartoon

What do you think ... or do you?

Too Harsh?

This cartoon appeared just days before last November's election. It appears here, on the eve of what threatens to be the inauguration of unprecedented human slaughter, as a reminder of the sway evil has over so many Americans-- even those who've received the most precious and salutary of gifts, the Catholic faith.

This cartoon is un-American. The first amendment guarantees freedom of religion.

does freedom of speech extend to the cartoonist?

I don't "get" Saipan's remark - at all!

That being said, sometimes the truth is harsh.

Don't you feel like you've fallen down the rabbit hole???

I don't know if the jackass name in particular is called for, but certainly I'm all for freedom of speech, and yours as well. I suppose I had so many reasons to distrust the other candidates, abortion stance notwithstanding, if that's even the right word, probably not. But if it makes me a jackass to you/the church/the public, that's OK. People call me a lot of names for being gay (or whatever, I hate labels). You get used to it after a while.

PS- I have to add that I appreciate that you love me despite our very prominent differences in morals. I am still in shock, to be honest. That's how you are Christ to me. Not because of your pro-life stance, not because of your Catholic faith (though I'm still Catholic, believe it or not, though some would argue not), but because you love everyone without question.

Thank you for your comments...and, yes, I do still love you - even though we have divergent views in some areas.

I put up this cartoon [stole it from some one else's site] just to see what kind of responses it might draw ... so we'll keep watching and see what we get.

Is this the attitude of Christ, who said, "I have come not to judge the world, but to save it"? Have we, his followers, so lost sight of the preeminence of mercy and love in the gospel that we resort to comparing people to brute beasts? TWe are to love and respect those who do not agree with us no less because we disagree. Our arms and hearts are to be open to all that as many as possible might come. "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." This cartoon is not only harsh, but ill concieved.

Um, yeah. It is a little harsh. A lot of people were conflicted about this election. I ended up leaving the ballot blank (for president), because in conscience I couldn't support any of the options. Those who supported Obama in spite of (rather than because of) his pro-choice stance don't deserve to be called "jackasses".

you're a good and charitable man

i suspect there were more than a few who were conflicted and responded as you
